Colson Kelly, or Machine Gun Kelly is best well-known for his distinctive style of rap he employs. Baker was born in Houston, TX U.S. on April 22nd 1990 to parents of English Scottish German descent. When he was a kid Baker spent a large deal of time traveling with his parents, who were missionaries. James Colson Baker battled depression and unemployment, and his mom Sonia Alane dumped him at age 9. Baker's father moved with Baker to Denver and they lived at the uncle of his father. Baker's lack of resources was a reason for bullying by kids in the area. When he was in sixth grade, he began to listen to rap. Before signing with Bad Boy Records Baker released four mixtapes from 2007 to 2010. The Cleveland rapper who raps songs as quickly as bullet-trains, had an explosive rise in the latter part of 2011, after he shifted to self-publishing mixtapes instead of signing with reputable labels. His career took off after that, with each of his records making the top 10 charts.
